Next stop on my Illinois/Missouri workshop tour was Cary, Illinois where the fabulous Carrianne of Carrianne Photography was hosting the event.
I arrived at my hotel in Cary the day before the workshop. I was greeted at the desk by a wonderful gentleman and sweet lady who presented me with a goodie bag full of candy, drinks, gum and snacks. You see, my sweet little host, Carrianne, dropped it off for me when I arrived. I could tell already I was going to love this girl….lol
I met Carrianne at her beautiful home the day before. Some of the gals had already arrived and were getting ready to head out on a photo shoot with Carrianne’s adorable kiddos! So I got the pleasure of meeting most of them that evening! We hung out in her studio and got everything set up, swag bags filled and set ups picked out….all ready to go.
There were 8 attendees in the class | Jessica Rivera, Laurie Wylie, Haley Birkelbach, Stacey Yeiter, Vanessa Balenovich, Jen Lettinga, Molly Chadderdon, and Heather Chubak. We had 3 adorable little models that day, two boys and one girl. What absolute perfect little angels they were. I really don’t think we had much poo or pee at all!
Carrianne had the perfect little studio with lots of props, blankets, hats and supplies. We all gathered in the kitchen while we had some delicious banana bread Carrianne had made….yumm….I can still taste it now! We got to know one another and how we got where we are today. I could tell we were going to have a great day together!
I introduced my FLIPBOOK to them and explained how I was going to teach my pose-to-pose™ transitional technique. Everyone was excited and we got down to business. Everyone did a great job and they all had followed all my pre-class instructions that we go over about a month ahead of time. This makes things start off real smooth and allows us to focus on the babies.
Lunch time we headed back to the kitchen for some more yummy food from Carrianne. I seriously have to get those recipes….she’s an awesome cook! She made the most delicious chicken salad croissant sandwiches I have ever had! I mean, I make chicken salad too, but man…was it good! I wanted to eat more, but didn’t want to look like a pig…so I settled for one….haha… She also had this very tasty dip with pita chips….oh yummm….I kinda pigged out on those…lol…shhhh
The day was just fabulous. I enjoyed every single person. I shared all my tips and tricks. We talked about business and pricing, marketing, and everything you need to know as a newborn photographer. We spent a couple hours in post processing until I put them to sleep….yea, it was a long day and everyone was tired. I think my quiet voice made them sleep….haha….I know I saw Haley sneak off to take a “power nap” at some point….but we’ll forgive her since she’s pregnant..lol
We ended the day with everyone going through their swag bags full of goodies from all the Sponsors who graciously supported the workshop. I can’t thank everyone enough for all you donated and gave away. The girls were just giddy with all their goodies!!
Now let’s share our darling models and the fun times we shared that day.

Hey everyone!! I’m finally blogging about my two week trip to Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO where I taught 3 purebaby™ Newborn Workshops. I had an absolute wonderful time and met some wonderful people!
My first stop was Chicago, where I met up with my host, Carol Lea of Today Everlasting Photography. My wonderful hubby came along the night before the workshop to help us. He filled swag bags for all the attendees while Carol and I went through fabrics, blankets, hats, and props and got things set up for the attendees who were arriving the next day. Carol had everything arranged and planned and was very organized in making sure all was going to go great.
There were 6 attendees in the class | Brittany Jonaitis, Laurie Levitt, Karen Hojnaki, Kristi Burns, Okema Clare, and Jenny Lisner, plus our wonderful host, Carol Lea. We had 4 darling little models that day, two of which were twin boys. We were truly blessed to have such wonderful little babies to photograph and give the parents something they can treasure and remember of these special moments.
The class started out with getting to know one another, talking about how we got started in photography and just bonding. Then we got down to business and I talked about my pose-to-pose™ transitional technique that I teach at all my workshops and explained to them how I developed it and why. They were each given a FLIPBOOK to take back home to use as a reference guide, taking you step by step through the pose-to-pose™ technique. The attendees found this to be a very helpful tool in directing them how to complete a full newborn session.
They learned about natural light, how to diffuse it, how to set up, camera settings, advance exposure techniques and something a lot struggle with….white balance. I showed them how to stay calm, be patient, work with the baby and they learned tons more! It was great…..we laughed….we sweated….and we bonded. It was a great day in Chicago. Now to share the darling models we had for the day…..

I know I should have photographed the girls shooting more….I get so wrapped up in the babies, I sometimes forget…..below are just a few of the images I captured that day of the girls shooting and just having a good time with one another.
At the end of the workshop, each attendee was given a Swag Bag full of goodies from our Fabulous Sponsors and some extra goodies from me as well. I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to all the Sponsors who graciously donated discounts, coupon codes, giveaways and items for each attendee. It wouldn’t have been as special without each and every one of you!!
You can view a list of all our Wonderful Sponsors under the “sponsors” tab at the top of this page, and also on my FACEBOOK page, listed in the Albums titled “Sponsors.”
Thank you to all the wonderful Attendees, my Fabulous Host, Carol Lea, and my special Sponsors for making this workshop a great one!!!
Coming up next……Cary, IL Workshop!
