A day in Paradise | Kauai, Hawaii

Nora and I spent the day together yesterday. Everyone else wanted to go snorkeling up on the North Shore and I think her and I were not feeling as adventurous, so we hung around in Poipu for the day.

Our day started off slow as I cleaned up and did the dishes, she laid in bed watching Dora, her favorite thing to to do. It took some coaxing, but I finally managed to get her out of the house to go to the pool. It was quite windy here yesterday, so we only stayed for about an hour and she was ready to go. We headed back to the condo for some lunch and downtime. I thought at one time she might fall asleep, but she just wanted to lay around and watch tv, which was fine with me, as I was trying to get back some energy myself. We’ve been going almost non-stop since we got here, so a little relaxation was definitely much needed.

Finally when we both gained some energy, we headed down to the Poipu Shopping Center to get some delicious gelato. She chose strawberry, of course. We took a seat on the ground and watched all the roosters, hens, baby chicks, and birds flocking around us. She loves the roosters with all their pretty colors and she’s become quite good at communicating with them with her cute “cock-a-doodle-dooooo!”

Visitors nearby giggled and awed over how cute she is and how much she talks. She’s really amazing for a two-year-old and how she talks like a five-year-old. A couple sitting close by gave her some bread from the famous and most delicious, Puka Dogs, to feed to the birds. She was thrilled beyond excitement and charmed them with her cuteness and saying “thank you.” I’m always amazed at how she tells people “thank you” without even telling her to say it. She’s quite the polite little girl.

After gelato, we headed to Paradise Popcorn, which was close by. They have all kinds of delicious popcorn and after sitting her on the counter to try all the different flavors, Nora decided upon the blue raspberry, while I chose the cheddar cheese….yummm!!

It was back to the birds again, as she said she wanted to share her popcorn with the birdies. They were quite happy when they saw she had returned with some colorful food they could indulge in.

Next stop, the toy/clothing store. I think we spent an hour in this store while she played with almost all the toys in there! I could have bought her everything, but she ended up choosing a volkswagon bug with a surfboard on the top, which I failed to get a picture of, so I will have to do a shoot with it soon!  She also loved this cute crab beach bag, so I bought both and we headed out the door with the little van and bags of popcorn in her crab bag. As we left the store, she stopped by this darling dress and stood there for a minute gazing upon it and the hat that went with it. Fortunately I grabbed some photos as she left the store and headed on her venture of window shopping, but I didn’t really realize how long she stared at that dress and hat….I may have to go back. haha!

I told her we should be getting back soon and she said “yea, my family should be home soon.” haha…Nora loves her family and talks about everyone all the time. While we headed to the store, she walked past all the stores, wanting to enter and do some more shopping, but I had to stop her before she got out of control. I love how she loves to shop and look through the clothing racks!!

Without further ado, here is a small compilation of our day together..one in which I will always cherish. I’m sure I’ll be back to share more of our adventures in Kauai, Hawaii very soon.
